    PVR Software Q's

    Hi,

I have a WinFast TV2000xp 'deluxe' tv card, with which im currently using the stanard issue PVR software.
    - But its a bit inflexable, and certianly masivly stuggles with tuning into diffrent areas.
    - I have to manualy retune the whole lot, taking about an hour, everytime i move from home to uni and visa-versa!

Im also thinking now of geting a 2nd card, to i watch and record at the same time. So im wondering what 3rd party PVR software there is avalalabe?

for windows? mediaportal is probably the most fully-featured free software, but there are an array of paid options (including windows xp media center, beyondtv, sagetv, powercinema, etc etc etc)

depends on the functionality you want, and how much you want to pay

I'd suggest looking at MediaPortal too (http://www.team-mediaportal.com/). OpenSource and there is loads of work going on at the moment.

If you want to get your hands dirty with Linux, then there is always MythTV (http://www.mythtv.org/) which is probably the mother of all PVR software. Again there is a lot of heavy development going on (there has been major changes each of the three past revisions) especially with regards to DVB and program guides etc.
