    Dreamweaver Import

Hi all, I have been asked by my uncle to do a bit of work on his website. His website was created in frontpage with extensions. But having no real experience with this program its becoming a real PITA to work with. Anyway... Im just wondering if anyone knows a way to import a Frontpage Extensions website into Macromedia Dreamweaver 8 (preferably FTP)

    Thanks in Advance

You mention frontpage server extensions a lot. If the original developer has written the web using caveats of fp server extensions (authroing, administering, 'webbots'), then you're going to run into trouble I reckon, and i'd suggest you alter the site 'by hand'.

If it's just a plain ol' website just created in frontpage then I don't see what the problem is. Just collect all the necessary files and create a new site in Dreamweaver, providing server details etc as necessary.
To err is human. To really foul things up ... you need a computer.

Dreamweaver should just see the FP stuff like webbots as script objects and place little markers for them on the page in the design view. From there you can highlight them and edit them and their properties as if you'd dropped in lots of little custom scripts in the page in DW itself, either in the code view or in the script object properties .

If you do edit these in DW tho you're likely to run into bigger problems if you load the page up in FrontPage and try and edit them there.
