    vista 5744 drivers

I've installed vista and it look cool but it not recognizing my ethernet card.
Dlink DGE 530t I know it's a cheap card to replace the one on my mobo that crapped out on me, but it does the job. I also have the huge vista driver pack that hasn't really helped after I installed it. If anyone has any info on this subject. I really want this vista think to work. Should I have a look at a new ethernet card?

Thanks for your time in reading this!

what are other people using for Ethernet cards that work? I mean is this "My" problem or are other vista users having similar problems? I can't access the internet at all. I might as well format my drive and start over with the latest greatest xp version?
I give up and free defeated by an operating system,, how weird?

Don't know about that card myself, but good luck really... can't see DLink supplying drivers for old hardware, and if they're not native in RC2, they'll not be in the retail Vista...

Quick Google search suggests you're not the only one unable to get this card working in Vista, but no, it's not a general problem for most people.

Try the XP drivers (download if necessary)... the way networking in Vista has been done means it's less likely to work for NICs, but hell, it's worth a shot.

Driver support for old hardware is going to be very limited with Vista. Even the latest drivers from NVidia and ATI are a bit basic. As you suggested, try another NIC that is supported, probably save you a lot of bother in the long run.
