An application like notepad that recognises markup?

What do you recommend? I was using nano on the linux machine on campus, but i dont have anything remotely like that on my computer here...

outline - im writing html/php/javascript and would like something to recognise the tags and make them pretty colours - like 'view source' does in firefox

    Thanks in advance!

I use and highly recommend 'PitPad'... Great little program, no installation necessary just download and run the .exe... Has support for syntax highlighting on many different languages.

All round a nifty little program.

A Second vote for Textpad, on Windows you can't really beat it. It's clean, fast but powerfull and basically does what it says on the tin.

The free trial never expires (although it nags) but it doesn't cost very much to buy.
They told me I was gullible ... and I believed them.

Crimson Editor seemed pretty good when I had a look.

I've found Notepad2 to be a good coding editor that recognises many different coding formats and is genuinely free.

Well except for Vi really, those programs are equally suited to either Win or Lin.
