Norton AV 2006

Last week I installed Norton AV 2006.

Since then, ive had viewing attachments with webmail mainly word documents.

If somebody sends a word document, if i try and open it from webmail, it loads word, but does not load the document.

If I save the file to my pc from webmail, and then run, it works fine (but iv noticed it virus scans the file before opening it).


Is there a way around this? Maybe to disable scanning attachments on webmail?

I personally do not rate Norton AV at all, it messes about with your system too much. I would rather have something less intrusive NOD32 does a wonderful Silent Mode that has always been a win with me.

But yeah if you try disabling the auto scanner? It might pull a hissy fit and tell you something is trying to blow up your computer but it might work.

sorry to barge in here, but could you recommend a firewall to go with NOD32 - my norton subscription ends in december and i'm considering changing, NOD looks good, but it doesn't come with a firewall afaik.

Personal Firewall wise , I was always pretty happy with Agnitum Outpost.

I'v always used the Windows Firewall + NOD32, always a winner.
