    UIQ3 programming for the P990i

Anyone have any experience with the Symbian OS and UIQ3?

I'm (not very) patiently waiting for mu SE P990i to become available from O2.

When i do get it i want to have a bash at writing a Squeezebox emulator for it so i can access my Slimserver over the net. I'll need to look into O2s mobile data deals etc. but the aim is to have my whole music collection and digital radio available on the move

Interfacing with Slimserver isn't a big deal, they have a very good CLI that runs over HTTP port 9090, or i could go wth the custom SlimProto that is also well documented.

It's a pretty ambitious project for me, i haven't touched Java for a good number of years (when i was at Uni), and to be honest i struggled then, but at least i have a project in mind to work on.

Anyone have any tips or advice?

    thanks

I only programmed on a series 60 symbian, with C++.

    It wasn't plesant.

You'll need to get the SDK, register for their developer network, this all used to be free, like 5 years ago neway.

5 years ago there was no HTTP helping APIs

But seriously if you want nice programming get a windows mobile phone, nothing quite like been able to debug .net 2.0 over bluetooth!
throw new ArgumentException (String, String, Exception)
