    Few Windows related minor problems

Rite, i recently downloaded and installed tweak xp, in the hope it mite give some useful tweaks to the OS, maybe give some performance related tweaks, or other useful things.

I spent some time tweaking, didnt really find anything useful. My brother (complete computer illiterate), then saw this, thought ooh look, new program! Decided to run it, thought he would automaticly use the "auto tweak" feature of it, and set it to tweak both windows settings (performance and visual) and windows services, to the maximum level of "tweakage". He then came to me complaining about how windows how looked old, the start menu had went into classic mode and so forth and so on. So i asked him what he done, i went into tweak xp, and set it to restore it back to windows default settings, but this sadly got rid of all my personally (non tweak-xp) settings. It seems to have left a few unwanted effects. None really major, just annoyances and personal preferences.

1, When i go, Start -> All Programs, Instead of having my 100+ program folders scattered across my desktop taking up my lovely room (sounds bad but i liked it). They are now condensed into one column where i must scroll up and down them taking ages to find what im looking for, anyone know where i can change this.

2, When i go, Start -> All Programs, Instead of having the menu just appear within half a second (ish). I am required to click it, i know this is extremely minor, but it just makes my use of the computer less conveniant for me. Once again, any idea on how to change it?

3, When dragging multiple files, for cutting them into folders etc. Instead of them staying visible, they go extremely transparent, the furthur away from the mouse they are, the more transparent, quite annoying when dragging and dropping multiple files at a time. I think im rite in saying this in the visual options accessable through My Computer, im just not sure which option it is.

Thanks, im sure theres other things but these three have been the most visible to me, ive looked over the net googling for all three and havent been able to come across any solutions, mostly because most of my searches have came up with lots of random stuff related to the words but not in the way im looking for.

    Thanks

Not an option, as Tweak XP, tweaking the max "tweakage" turns it off as default as it beleives it can spread viruses.. which thus deleted all my previous restore points. Not the point anyway, if it can be edited, it can be changed back

Solution to Problem No.1 - You have scroll programs selected. Right click on your start button and click properties. Now click on the customise button then select the advanced tab. Scroll down the list and uncheck 'Scroll Programs'. Fix your 2nd problem by selecting 'Open submenus when I pause on them.....'.

Sorry, can't help with number three.

Rite, thanks very much for the fix to number one. It worked a charm.
Number two though, seems to have no effect at all, i thought that was the option that would effect this, but it was already turned on, and turning off / on does nothing at all. Should this effect when im inside "All Programs" Aswell, as with this on or off, it always opens submenus when i pause over them, just not from Start > All Programs.

    Thanks

I have also just thought of another problem i have, it involves the CD burning wizard.
When i have pasted files into the cd drive, and have a blank cd in (it has recognised it and everything, or a blank dvd). It just does nothing at all when i click "Write these files to cd" at the left hand side menu. It makes a beep sound, but when i remove a cd after using nero to make a cd, it pops up the wizard that complains that the cd burning has failed etc.... its as if it cant access the wizard somehow, any help??
This was present for some time now, before the tweak xp incident.

Yup, and get to it via right-click on My Computer > Properties > Advanced tab > and tick the box in the list that P5X mentioned. There's a few more options in there you might want to glance over to see if you want them (back).

As for the CD Burning wizard, try going to Start > Run > type "services.msc" (minus quotation marks), double-click on IMAPI CD-Burning COM Service. Set Startup Type to Automatic in the dropdown box, and Start the service (by clicking on Start funnily enough).

Thanks for that P5X, it fixed that problem. Ive looked through them, most of them were disabled before but their only only visual effects so ill play around with them and see what i like (i barely notice them to tell the truth).

And ahh yes, how silly of me, should have checked the services for that, forgot all about it! It was turned off and set to manual, so ive set it to automatic so that should hopefully fix my problem.

    Just the;

Im pretty sure that because the option i have already been told on how to fix this has not changed it, tweak xp must have changed something in the registry for it, anyone got a clue?

Save me typing it all out, here's a link to someone who did it for me. You'll want to do the opposite, that is instead of going from "400" to "0" milliseconds, you'll be going from "0" to "400".

This made no difference at all, you cant have read my problem correctly. I dont want it to go faster, or slower, it doesnt happen at all, changing this made no difference whatsoever.

EDIT: Update, i just changed to the Classic Smart menu and theres no problem at all there, hmm :S
