Stopping those msg pop up's in win xp

how do you turn that msg service off in win xp guys? i done it befour but can't think how... now..

Going on Win 2K here but it should be the same...

--> Control Panel --> Administrative Tools --> Services --> Messenger

(Right click, select properties, set Startup type to disabled and reboot)

Might want to create a system restore point first

It's either that or install a firewall. Also if you've set it all up manually it's worth checking that you've only got TCP/IP active on your net connection (nothing else unless you know you need it)

Bobby, head to google and get up as many XP service tweak guides as you can find and read through.

Once you've set up a few XP machines you will get to know what services you want turning off without having to work your way through each time

yep, lots of unuseful services are turned on by default like WIFI ... turned them off save my memory as well
