not sure if this is what you want.. but with nero (i have 6), you can just do 'new svcd' drag and drop the mpeg file and it takes all of 10seconds and then you can burn to cd ready for your dvd player to play ... not sure if thats what you want to do tho?

.. i think there is something called tmpgenc or something similar which is freeware which you can convert avi->mpeg (w/o sound tho afaik), might have a look on google..

thats what am doing using nero but nero still has to convert the file which takes 30mins (once i split the a 700meg file into 2 350meg files). so iam wondering if there is a program that will encode it faster then nero and with better quality

    Canopus ProCoder ... great program!

It'll encode ANY audio/video CODEC to anyother Audio/video CODEC on your PC! Also has editing and lipsync features ... great for matching up those illegal TS's, lol

Yeah, I use TMPGEnc too, highly useful program with a "do-it-all wizard" too.
