    I hate CITRIX

    Any Citrix pro's out there?

I'm having to use citrix, and well it's painful, it dosen't for one like my browser having any security at all. Basically, have to get rid of them, which pisses me off.

But best of all because i work for a German AG, guess what citrix does, maps my tablet PC to german, oh yeh, no stopping it, least none i can think off.

So in short, i hate citrix, it would of been quicker for me to hop on the tube, 22 minuites later jog up to the 6th floor, before been able to use RDP from my terminal to the prod servers. Job would take about 4 minuites top.

Not a pro... But have supported and installed it before.

    What is the question BTW?
I assume it is nFuse you are using to login (browser)?

When it is setup correctly - Citrix is a wonderful tool.
When incorrectly configured, it's a female dog.

As captain fizz says a lot of the usability (or lack of) comes down to how it's been configured, and in this case it sounds pretty bad.

We use it quite a bit, and haven't had too many problems.

In particular I know that we have it set up so that depending on the user logging in they get the desktop in either English or German.

Citrix has its ups and downs

It fantastic in the way that its centralised and can be controlled without the need to visit clients etc.

Security is no longer an issues with its 128bit encription ans we also use f-secure for citrix servers with a cisco firewall... etc

one problem with it is that it can be very sesative to windows updates and one mistke on the server and you kick a lot of users off their desktop!

I don't really see you question here to be honest though..... lol

I think the question MAY be how to ensure you log on to an English session.

See the Citrix admins and give them a spanking.

Its probably the set up, which is controlled by frankfurt. So short of booking a trip to ff i've got no chance of getting the admins to do anything, because, they hate us.

My biggest gripe is that i have to run as admin for the web client.

Followed by the issue with keyboard mapping.

If anyone knows fixes for either of these would be greatly apprechated.

Once the web based ICA Client is installed - It shouldn't need Admin to run from then on.
    Tried just PU access?
We've had numerous non-admin people connect via nFuse.

    Not used different languages.
I know nFuse is a lot less configurable for the end-user though.
    (So better for the admins!)

Can you change the language settings on your session on the Citrix Server or is it only applications you get?
(IE - Can you connect to the 'Desktop' app?)

capt_cornflake can probably advise better on that tho.

We don't use a web based client here. Where users are connecting from a PC, we use the CITRIX desktop client (not sure what this nFuse is?).

It really comes down to what the admins allow you access to really...
I don't think you have a great deal of control over the desktop language, we've set it up to switch depending on the user that logs in (although I don't know the details of how it was done), once the user is in, they are stuck with what they get (english / german)

I would hope that you should be able to access the keyboard settings through the control panel, although if the admins are being particularly anal they could block this...

nFuse is a web portal into Citrix.
Basically still an ICA Client, just installed via your browser.

So the client is the same as any other once connected... Just to get connected you login to a wepage rather than have an actual client installed on the PC. Have a little menu which is a web equivilent of PN.

Just you can't change any settings of the connections themselves.
(What you see is what you get... Like a locked down version of PN)

I think you are stuffed when it comes to it though.
Unless you can access the desktop and change it - Any app you run will use the default settings it has been told to use. :s

    nope no desktop setting access.

might load a java debugger, try n get a clue as to what access isn't permitted when i'm running as regular user!
