    Best free Anti Virus

Now that AVG is switching off their free service, can anyone recommend a decent replacement? Needs to keep out the way and not consume 900 MB of RAM ideally...

full internet security packages from £4, though i recommend f-secure for a whopping £11 myself. The new 2007 versioni smeant to be very good

Totally recommended from me! A great AV program with tons of functionality.. I use it and also put it on any clients computers who fail to have any AV software.

Great piece of software definitely worth a look, much preferred over AVG.

    I still love anti-vir http://www.free-av.com/
It's free, it works, it's German What more do you want.

(you occasionally used to get customer surveys in German, but they seem to have fixed that) and I've never had a virus problem with it in 4 years or so.

I used to use free-av but it started missing things so i moved on to AVG. Have been tempted to try Avast though and probably will when i do a fresh install on my PC.

I've used avast for about 2-3 years and I think its a great freebie anti-virus. I switched to it from AVG, because at the time AVG auto-updates used to take far too long (I think the downloads where from New Zealand lol).

Avast has caught numerous attacks on my PC, mainly from dodgy (ahem!) websites that manages to sneak stuff into ur temporary internet files.

Use Avast on the home pc's, used to use AVG, but it missed no end of stuff.

Also tried Clam AV, opensource and at present doesnt have a realtime scanner, but if your into the habbit of scanning new stuff 1st, its not really a problem.

I use AVG, doesn't seem to have any issues. I tried something else, but the interface annoyed me somewhat. That may have been Avast. Just get AVG Free 7.5 when 7.1 disappears.
