you can download themes, but you need to get a 'hacked' uxtheme.dll file, then you can just browse deviantart.com or something to find some nice themes

have a look here for themes

and here for changing the uxtheme.dll file

right. the transparent taskbar seems to be something to do with setting 'Shell_TrayWnd' to be transparent, but google isnt being super helpful, the command 'Set transparent, *, Shell_TrayWnd, 255' doesnt work for me...

How about running the Vista Inspirat pack? Contains all of the things required and is a simple installer. You may need administrative rights to install it, however.

    ah that sucks,

the 'hack' just allows non-microsoft (ie unofficial) themes to be used, nothing illegal.. but if you dont have the security privileges then i guess you're stuck with the ms ones...

tho saying that, what happens if you download and 'double-click' on a .msstyles file? i dont know if uxtheme allows .theme files or quite what.

ok basically i cant touch any C:\ files at all
but i know there is a command you type into the run box
that allows a tiny bit off modding!?

like making the start bar transparent!

Depends on company policy, if anyone managed to do it here i'd kick their ass. If it ever came to light & my bosses found out then i'd be the one for an ass-whuppin. What peeps tend to forget it it's not their pc, or their software.
    And yes, it sux.
