On the topic of Vista beta/rtm, I placed into cd drive (hard drives formatted) and during boot up it doesn't go further than "boot from atapi cd rom...".. I know from reading it puts everything on hard drive and installs from there.. but not even a splash screen...

Any ideas?

No I burned the ISO to a dvd.

what software did you use? i dont want to sound patronising but did you just make a DVD with the iso 'on', or properly burn the ISO to dvd... what are the contents of the DVD (read from windows) ?

I used nero to burn iso to dvd.. selecting "burn image to disc".. it was in win rar when downloaded...

contents on cd are;
5 directories.. boot, efi, sources, support, upgrade and a bootmgr file, autorun file and setup executable..

No, it was an .ISO file, and your WinRAR is set to open .ISO files.

If it was a .RAR file, then you've aquired it illegally.

Yes it was zipped/packed, but once opened there is a iso file inside..
