    Windows Firewall Problem

    Hi,

I am currently having some problems with the windows firewall service in windows, on start-up the service dosent start and when i try to start it manually from the security center but still fails.

Do you have any suggestions as to why this may be happening.

does it give you a reason? If not, goto start-run and type eventvwr then press enter
check the system and application logs for warnings and errors.

This is what it says in the system logs.

The Windows Firewall/Internet Connection Sharing (ICS) service terminated with the following error:
The specified module could not be found.

does the file ipnathlp.dll exist in your windows/system32 directory?
Also check the following registry key:
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/Software/Microsoft/Windows NT/curentversion/SvcHost

Is there an entry in that key called netsvcs?
Is there a subkey called netsvcs?

If you dont know how to answer this question, you are better off getting a more IT literate friend to do this - you could mess up your computer properly if you get anything wrong.
