i.e. boot from the driveimage cd (you may need a driver floppy if you use sata or raid)

Mmmm had to think about that one .. on my master machine I have 2 partitions i.e C & E .. on Drive 1 ...
    2 Other partitions on Drive 2 i.e D & F ... F contains the drive images that I restore back to Drive 1 C & E .. that always works

    The laptop has Drive 1 .. 2 partions C & F .. D=dvd drive
are you saying that F Can not restore to C .. because it is part of the same drive ( only it is partitioned ) ???

    am I making sense ??

then you're still stuck, because you'll be booted from an OS that will be overwritten

Everything else I understand except the UNC path & the drive letter

Can you help me with that bit please

why do I need to build this via a network login anyway ?? why can I not just creat a CD bootable and as you say .. boot from the CD

I think you need to really read the manual on this to get a better grip of how the process works (not specific to this application)
    It is Inevitable.....

so in short DI 2002 will not boot from a CD ... and I can not restore to C, with the application installed on C:\ where windows lives ... + I can not install it on the other partition as explained above ???

looks like a pretty useless application then ehh

as I suggested, read the manual and see how the technique works and what your options are.

Looking at some googled URLS, doesn't look like a useless application to me, although I never like these drive image bits of software anyway

Your computer and windows installation is running from the C partition. You cannot then restore an image onto C from within Windows. You can restore onto other partitions.

If you need to restore the C drive, you will need to get a bootable cd and then run that.

I know that my image manager came as a bootable cd, but, also came with an ISO builder which had some really nice advanced options. Check to see whether you have any ISO/PE builder style options or shortcuts installed on your computer, or, available for download from the manufacturer.
