    Creating ISO's

just a bit of a daft question, i have a pile of vids on my spare hdd which is gettin a bit full now so want to burn them which is no prob.

the prob is that most are in avi format which takes an age to do (transcoding seems to take forever). so was thinking about converting them to iso's which burn in a couple of mins, can anyone recommend a nice piece of freeware or something that don't cost the earth to perform said task.

or is there another way to do this?

I don’t think you’re understanding some of the basics of burning disks here
If your transcoding the videos, then you are burning them as video / dvd disks that will play in normal DVD players. If you just want to archive the files, then you need to burn it as a data disk.
The videos will appear on the disk like they would on your other hard drive then.

ISO’s are nothing more than an image of a disk. If you did want to convert the videos to play in a normal player, but still wanted it as an ISO file to burn, the process is exactly the same; except you end up with a burnable image at the end. You still have the same processing time in between.

Are you wanting to make DVD Movies from the AVIs or just save the files? If just the files then create a data DVD and burn the AVIs to that (skips the transcoding bit and you can play the AVIs from the DVD by double clicking them)

If the AVIs are too big or you want to make DVD movies then I don't know of anything that will get round transcoding.
