    Partitionmagic killed my HDD?

okay, not completely, but it may as well have done.

I was changing the size of my main partition, and when it went to reboot, the Partitionmagic (8.0) stuff came up, and went through the operations, then it errored, F**d up, and now Im left with an unbootable XP partition. MBR is still there, as I get the XP logo, then it reboots.

Question is is there any way to undo this... I dont have backup floppy (yes I am thick).

Anyone got any ideas... If all fails im gonna install a new hard disk and then try and recover after fresh XP setup.

    Cheers all

When booting, hold down F8 and select "Directory Services Restore Mode". If it gets far enough, it will run a chkdsk on every drive.

If not, run the CD install CD and choose the Recovery console, and type in -
    chkdsk C: /f /x /r
and repeat for all your drives.

If that doesn't work, use the CD again, and do a repair install.
