    Swapping contents of 2 drives?

Ok, I currently have 2 x 80GB IDE(C,D) and 1 x 80GB SATA(E) drives on my second PC. WINXP is installed on C drive. What I am planning to do is freeing up SATA drive E by moving all datas on it to drive C and recover/move current OS to E drive(so basically I want to swap all the contents around of these 2 drives). I have already created backup image of C drive on D drive by Acronis True Image so moving OS to E isn't much of a problem I guess but having problem trasfering all my files on E to C as my E drive is literally full. I originally thought I could move my E drive contents to C outside windows using Knoppix then temporarily install new Windows on drive E then install Acronis and recover image from drive D, but problem is my old DVD drive doesn't read latest Knoppix DVD I created(on my main machine it reads fine). I also have CD-RW drive on this PC so I tried older smaller version of Knoppix and it reads fine but this time it doesn't see my SATA drive, bah. So basically I'm stuck. Is there anything I can do to accomplish this task? I have a feeling that I may be able to copy my drive contents in DOS but I'm not sure how to do it. Or is there any Knoppix-like softwares out there that support sata and is smaller? BTW, there is no spare hard drive nor USB sticks around and D drive is also full. Any advice/help would be greatly appreciated, thanks.

Ok, I read that 3 times and I think I know what's going on.

Essentially, you have an image of C: on D: meaning C: could be blanked. You want to move all the data on E: to your current C: drive. D: is essentially scratch space, right?

Here goes... Boot from the Acronis recovery CD (you did make one, right?) and clone E: to C: - once this is done recover your C: image to E:, then pray that the MBR and the boot order works.

It worked like a charm No trouble what so ever. I love Acronis! And I got noticeable performance boost switching my boot drive to sata. Yay. I should've asked earlier, wasted whole evening thinking about this. Anyway, thanks again

No probs - glad I could help. Acronis TI is a kickass piece of kit imho, beats Ghost into whatever the saying is...
