why do you constantly refuse to disable your fire wall - just disable it while your testing to that its not something making the failures harder to diagnose

The easy way to get your ip range right is to go Start> Run type "cmd" minus quotes and press enter, then type ipconfig. Say your ip address came up as 192.168.2.1 then yes you would need to allow transfers from the ip range 192.168.2.0 to 192.168.2.255.

Yep done, that was exactly what i done to get it, wasnt sure if i needed to go from .0 to .255 or what though.

Still not working, any other advice?
The PC is most likely getting formatted in the next few days anyway, so if i cant solve it now lets hope that helps. Aslong as this god damn slipstream disc will work.

machines not *appearing* is odd (and usually a problem with ZA, which needs uninstalling not disabling)

machines giving security errors usually happens if you haven't run any of the home networking wizards (the manual fix is to go into the network connection properties on both machines, and tick the two tickboxes at the bottom of this screenshot: http://www.ucs.ed.ac.uk/nsd/access/wlan/wpaeaptype.png

Can you ping the other machine, to prove that the two machines can talk to each other?
