love the cazy desperation....pre ordering.
It is Inevitable.....
I pre-ordered the Ultimate Edition (Upgrade) from Amazon.co.uk about a month ago. I'll probably cancel it and order the OEM version once they announce prices for that though.

I'm well aware that:
A) MY graphics card doesn't have any drivers out yet
B) It will probably be buggy
C) Software will have some compatability issues.
But I don't care. I just want something new and shiney to play with- I know I could wait, but I thought I may as well get it ordered now
Edit: I'll be dual booting with XP pro for a while anyway![]()

Don't see the point in preordering, especially from Overclockers!! Wait till things settle down a bit first.
or just wait until the release day and order it or walk into a shop and buy it ??
It is Inevitable.....
or click the download button on your chosen P2P client?
or just order a ubuntu CD....

Urgh. I'm getting Vista home premium for 78, that is NOT expensive. I know FULL WELL that drivers/software will be immature that is why I am dual booting, as I have said. I will be going the vista route anyway so why not now? I won't have any trouble and I'll get to mess around with it whilst remaining on a stable XP Pro platform.
I won't walk into a shop and get it because there are none near me, also PCworld will only have the retail copies or be selling at RRP anyway. So I honestly don't see what the problem is. If I order it now or next week, it makes NO difference. Infact if I order it now I'll get to play with it for a short while before I recommence on some coursework.

A software launch is completely different to a hardware console release. Pressing millions of DVD's is much easier. If they cant cope with demand, they can just sub contract it out to another DVD plant. I am sure the shops will sometimes sell out, but they will be able to get stock in very quickly.
Very sensible. The price will come down very quickly anyway not long after release. I reckon sub £100 deals for the Ultimate edition will be common before summer. People are not going to switch to this OS as fast as they have done previously.
Personally, while i completely understand the desire to have the latest and greatest, i think all you pre-ordering lot are barking mad![]()

exactly the same was said about XP, many people felt it was simply win 2k with a different start menu (and for many things, they where right).
Lots of firms still haven't got rid of NT4! Its only the fact that software which requires the newer APIs is out that they are dragged kicking and screaming to upgrade.
The thing about the Wii Launch and this is its fun to play with new stuff, now i've been using my dev version and beta versions for a fair while now, but i'm still probably going to buy it in the first week.

I like the look of Vista but not enough to pre-order.
When I get round to ordering it'll be Business Edition for me I think.
looks at some of the comments Robert made,
perhaps I've miss-read the benifits of pre-ordering.
Does this mean you'll get it early before release ? or does this mean you'll just get it on the morning of release rather then the morning after ?Infact if I order it now I'll get to play with it for a short while before I recommence on some coursework.
Does this mean that pre-ordering is less than the recommended retail price ?I won't walk into a shop and get it because there are none near me, also PCworld will only have the retail copies or be selling at RRP anyway

I've pre-ordered it simply because I want to, no other reason. I enjoy getting new things and I wanted to order Vista, so I did.
I don't think Robert is any different, there might be an ever so slight possibility that he just fancied pre-ordering it. Why not just let him enjoy his purchase?
