    Post Windows Ultimate site

Did a quick search on the forum but didn't see a mention of this yet, and I just stumbled across it...

There is a new site specific for Windows Vista Ultimate:
    http://windowsultimate.com/

One of the 3 Ultimate Extras described so far is "Windows DreamScene" which enables the use of .WMV or .MPG files as your desktop background:

You don't post as often as you should Paul, but they are worth waiting for.

Interesting technology, Mac OS has had this sort of feature for a while, but not quite and the Enlightenment E17 never ending development has been trying to get a version of this technology working.

Very interesting that its available for the product already

    1) run "/usr/lib/xscreensaver/glmatrix -root"
    2) load gconf-editor and disable /apps/nautilus/preferences/show_desktop

    ain't that neat \o/

done the matrix one before, but its hardly a movie file is it.
Still it is cool. I think thats how Mac OS was doing the desktop background effects - by using screen savers (although thats just from memory)

although I imagine the movie file would have to be carefully selected to get get in the way of working.

Still a cool trick with with gl matrix

you can actually do this already with a lot of off the shelf products, WinDVD has been doing this since 2k to my knowledge!

problem is its a glorious waste of resources!

Another pointless feature to drive the life cycle.

It's not a money making exercise Steve B, there's a fundamental difference (as i'm sure you're aware too). It's an utterly pointless aside that 'the many' will umm and ahh about due to microsofts huge marketing weight.

    That's rather childish.
