okay, so im attempting (operative word here) to set up an x-less ubuntu server to run as a mail server, FTP server, media dumping ground and would be grateful if some knowledgeable people could give me a few pointers in the direction of software.
I dont even know if what i want is possible, but i'll attempt it anyway
I'd like to be able to download my emails from ntl to one machine, but be able to check them from other computers on the network (and perhaps my phone). Thing is, once i download them from the ntlworld server, they disappear, and i cant check them online any more, so it needs to be checked in the one box. Ive heard the name Merak crop up, but was curious if there was any others that i could try.
With regards to FTP and media serving, if anyones got any experience with software, i'd appreciate some comments.
Thanks,
Steve
