Just had e-mail confirmation from OcUK that they have dispatched my copies of Vista Home Premium OEM![]()
Wasn't expecting that quite so soon![]()
awesomeness. Is it going to be wroth going straight to vista then? I mean apart from new layouts and stuff, performance wise is it worth doing with my rig?

I dual-booted Vista RC-1 for some time on a fairly similar rig to yours (except it had an X1800XT) and it was fine. I didn't bench it but it ran Far Cry, Doom 3 and Half Life 2 at 1650 x 1080 pretty well.
It was also rock solid stable, even with the beta ATI drivers
Wonder how long it will take for that to feature on P2P sites!!

how much space would I need to partition off to dual boot it ?

Guys, not to be a stickler for the rules but this thread has nothing to do with a bargain does it? Post on the OS board instead if you want to discuss Vista.

It's not the whole uni, its onyl my department in southampton, Electronics and Computer Science, and I get a free copy of XP and Vista as an electronics student in the department.
They are part of the Microsoft 'eacademy' which allows u download it free. I guess I am paying for it in my fees to some extent![]()
