Registry Mechanic license data not uninstalling!

    Hi,

My Dad recently renewed his Registry Mechanic license. He got a different key which he needs to use.

When he uninstalls it and reinstalls it the old license it still assigned to the program.

I have tried everything I can think of. Looks through the registry multiple times, followed PCTools instructions to reinstall, searched on the PCTools forums, use FileMon to check what Registry Mechanic is reading etc. none of it worked

Anyone got any idea how I can remove the old license data from the PC please?

    Thanks,
    Craig.

    Hi

Do not know if this will work or not, but worth a try

    Try going into

    c:\documents and settings\*login name*\Local settings\Temp

and try deleting anything to do with reg mechanic.

I have not installed reg mechanic but this has worked for other applications for me before.

For the login name put in your account, also folders will have to be unhidden

Thanks for your reply, but there are no obvious temp files for Reg Mechanic in there, it's probably got some strange coded name

But does it still work, but just shows the old licence? or you can't install with the new licence numbers? and what happens if you re-install with the old licence number?

I would say get in touch with them.

But i for one know Registry Mechanic is a bunch of BS...
It doesnt optimize anything atall, it compresses some files. But these files are of no importance.

I would keep your money and optimize windows yourself (various guides)

Can't install with new licenses, old license won't let me update the program.
