    Winamp Question

Winamp 5 rocks - finally the release version fixes the fact that my main window had vanished in modern skins, lol.

Anyway, is there a plugin that allows me to have the winamp controls in a tab on the task bar.

I believe you can do it with WMP, so it stands to reason that there's a plugin out there for winamp.

    Cheers,
    Unts.

I made some shortcuts to some executables and put them into an Office toolbar... not the same thing, but worth considering.

I've seen a forum thread with this in on Q3W though, I'll be back soon after a hunt.

    /edit

i have something called Ampbar that throws an icon down in the taskbar for me to advance to the next song
5 has a plug in as standard that throws control buttons into your system tray
/reedit - as soon as the libertines finishes I'll upfat my WA5 (still on some beta version) and give these a spin

/edit again - if you want to try these executables for some reason then I'll throw them on my webspace

    http://users.ox.ac.uk/~kebl2000/file...xecutables.exe

I found them useful as opera likes to be a bit of a whore, and disable my media keyboard keys while it's the maximised main window.

    /last edit - WA5 > Settings > Plug-ins - General Purpose > Nullsoft Tray Control v0.2

Interesting - Opera 7.23, Winamp 5 & my media keyboard keys (Logitech) get along fine.

I've found the features that I want all built into winamp now - guess I'm getting used to the updated settings structure - I'm so used to WA 2!

    Cheers.

I like WA5 although prefer an early Alpha version of WA5 which I still have, it seems less buggy that the final WA5. Has nearly all the features and is before they messed the engine around so runs just as fast as WA2

i'm not impressed with winamp 3 or 5 - they use about 40% CPU time, just to play an MP3 - whereas Winamp 2 uses about 2/3% AT MOST - most of the time winamp 2 uses no CPU time playing MP3s...

I don't know what you're using but Winamp5 uses 0% CPU most of the time playing MP3's on my rig.

got winamp 5 last night, pretty impressed so far, winamp3 had a few annoying habits which seem to have been sorted. not had any problems or noticed any bugs (yet).

The people who are moaning about winamp5 - check all the options - there are loads of ways to optimise WA5 and reduce CPU usage etc.

At least have a root about before you give up on it - come on, it's Winamp, not Media Player - it EXPECTS you to play around with the settings.

Hmm, says 2-4% CPU usage for me and I'm running Outlook. The only things I've changed is Full File buffering in mpeg decoder to 12800kb as the MP3s are on a network drive. Also enabled MP3 accelaration in SonicFury Mixer and the Direct Audio ouput. I don't have a massive CPU, 1800+ and I'm running MMD3 as a skin.

grr, Winamp 5 sucks the llamas' ass. It's slow and buggy with lots of useless features. Not only have they made winamp into bloatware(which happened with 3), they've now taken the classic winamp (2.9) off the site so they no longer give you the option to download it. I'm gonna stick with 2.9 atm.

BTW while we're on the subject....does anyone know how to get the logitech media keys working with winamp 2.9? Thanx

Don't know about 2.9 (I've got 2.8) but my Logitech media keys (only got mute & vol+-) work OK with it.
If need be can't you use iTouch to set it up?

There's a plugin for WA2.x that allows them to work - just search the site for it.
