    Free file synchronisation for Windows

Right. Just bought a large portable hard disk to back up all my music, photos and whatnot as well as to transfer large data files between work and home. Can anyone recommend a decent, free file synchronisation tool so I can keep all my documents up to date between 2 machines?

I use SyncToy as well after trying a number of other free alternatives, links to the ones I tried can be found here:
    http://del.icio.us/abeacock/sync

There are two things that I have found wrong with SyncToy (if I'm wrong please let me know!) they are:

    1) Doesn't delete the directories on the destination if the source has removed them - but it does delete the files leaving you with a number of empty folders.

    2) If you exclude certain directories (like my photos folder) when you add new folders inside the excluded one they get included in the next backup. You have to re-edit the excluded files again each time.

Anyone know if there are any fixes to these or if I'm doing something wrong?

You are correct abeacock. Point no. 2 is particularly annoying.

SyncToy is still pretty good despite the limitations. I can't believe they haven't fixed this issue yet. I downloaded the latest version which supposedly addressed the issue but had the same problems.

    Good ol' Microsoft!

I also like Xelsoft's SyncronEX but it isn't free
