Video editing software

Just got a new Mesh with Cyberlink suite installed and had grief from it. Apps not starting, hanging, etc.
Had an copy of Ulead Video studio on my old machine.
Has anyone any opinions about the two or something else they would recomend for transferring and editing vhs camcorder tapes to DVD.
