    FreeBSD Help

As i couldnt get CD1 of linux redhat to work i thaught id find something else to make my mind boggle. And that happens to be FreeBSD Now install seemed to go all well but when i try to do anything as root or the user i created...even something as simple as "/etc" it just tells me "/etc: Permission denied."
What hav i done wrong, reinstalling didnt seem to fix it or hav i set ip up rong twice ?

Strange what can happen with nix installations.
Open a terminal and at the prompt do an SU root and make sure you are logged in as root. It is possible that you made an error of types during the installation, I had a situation once that was very similar with a mandrake install and only got it fixed with a reinstall.

go to a shell prompt then type in SU root and you will be prompted for a password then you are logged on as root in that session window until you close it and anything you do has root privilege. Reinstall might be easier alright.

Pretty much generic statement, but, if you can't install Red Hat, then there is no way in hell you are going to be able to figure out BSD....
