Changing the Vista start menu to resemble ish XP.

My desktop is pretty fast (1 year old and it was very fast at the time) and has no problem handling games on high resolutions. However, the Vista start menu runs slower than a 386. The search is pretty good but when I want to navigate it old-style it takes sometimes up to 5 seconds to open up a folder. If I want to browse around the features of a certain program I start to pull my hair out before I can get to where I wanna be. I want to retain the search feature of Vista but also to be able to have the navigation style of XP. Does anyone have any ideas?

    Thanks

    Problem pretty much solved.

Well I pretty much solved my problem. If you take off the "highlight newly installed programs" option it is lightning fast.

This was my main problem but I would still like to have the old XP style navigation where it opens in a new little box instead of the Vista style where is just expands in the main part.

    Any suggestions?

EDIT: Oh also, I do NOT want to lose the search feature!

Weetabix - You can set it to the classic look if you want, right click on the start button go to properties and under start menu choose classic. It doesn't look as nice and you lose a few other things but you might like it better.

I'd love to know this too. That search thing gets right on my wick. I'm fairly minimal with my installs so it's of absolutely no use to me whatsoever, and is harder to navigate.
