How reliable are the Corsair Force SSD Drives

The corsair are more expensive and quicker than Kinston and others, but has anyone had any catastrophic failures?

I can't speak for modern variants, but my Corsair Force 120 drive has been utterly reliable for me for years.

Force 120 GT in my wife's PC flaked out after some months in the usual Sandforce controller manner. Tried it in another machine to attempt to get the data off it, and it all booted up lovely. Still don't know what quite to make of that, both components seem fine but I guess her motherboard and that drive were *almost* compatible.

Every component will have it's horror stories, I bought Corsair because I hoped if I needed to send it back I wouldn't have too much hassle as they seem to have a good reputation.

Wife has a WD Black hard drive that she likes, I have a spare small SSD for messing about with, all happy

True in almost every way

We've had problems with our Force series SSDs (SandForce base) back when we initially launched it. From FW reliability to Mobo SATA controller compatibility. But those issue are long gone. Since those days, we've been releasing more robust FWs that are more stable and compliant with third party SATA controllers. We haven't seen a major drawback in years except for the occasional DOA claims.

How about Neutron and Neutron GTX's firmware then ? Is it written by Corsair or LAMD ?

I wouldn't think they'd have higher failure rates than any other SSD, but I will say that the Force 510 has the highest endurance rating I've ever seen on a consumer SSD.

refurbished mp510 m.3 drives at various capacities on sale at greatly reduced prices. They offer a 12 month warranty only. Any thoughts on longevity ?

How long is a piece of string mate, but I have found Corsair refurbished products to be excellent quality and look like new. I believe they still come with some kind of warranty as well

I tried to contact them yesterday about a delivery that's five days overdue - spent 20 minutes on hold and got cut off. 45 minutes in the queue for a live chat, then it reset and put me to the back of the queue. Service tickets and emails get copypasta responses.

It's fair to say they're a wee bit stretched right now.

From what I have commonly seen, asking how reliable a hard drive brand will not yield useful results. It tends to solicit replies from people who have had a disk fail (without a backup). How often do you see the quote 'I'll never have another seagate/western digital/toshiba' etc after a disk failure. Their conclusion often backed up by a sample size of one. The only place I have found useful reliability metrics is from backblaze. I've never seen any failure metrics for SSDs - has anyone? In my experience it is rare for a drive to be faulty - I did have an original hitachi 'deathstar' though. I too have several corsair force mp510's, and I went for them purely for their exceptional endurance as I process a lot of data.

I've had lots of corsair products over the years and only ever had one PSU start making slight clicky noises. Contacted them and they offered to replace right away. Warranty and support excellent.
