    Re: Hatton-Mayweather.

About 3 hours to go now. I'm nervous, not just because I've had a punt on Hatton, but for English boxing.

Spank this arrogant yank Hatton. Break his jaw and send him down.

    Should shut him up.

Money aint all that, he's a slick fighter, very clever, but has he ever had to go to war? Against Oscar he was put under pressure, and got the win, but a lot of people thought he lost. Hatton is younger, has more to proove, and will work the body with his trademark hammer blows to the ribs.

I can't see him out-pointing Mayweather but he can knock him out.

Well after seeing that, have to say Mayweather won fair and square, he's the better boxer, bigger puncher, and far too smart and slick.

He will probably retire unbeaten and go down as one of the greatest boxers of all time.

He deserved it 100%. Gutted for Hatton but Money is all that.

I had a punt on points deducted and 2 knockdowns. £14 off 2, but half way through i put £5 on hatton to win

Why do you look at stuff so negitive, i agree with you on football. On the rest i feel your wrong.

Rugby - A very great performance with bad referee mistakes

Hamilton - A Complete rookie Great season

Boxing - Ricky Hatton is not an welter-weight fighter, gave up his titles to fight for the one last night he's already won belts.

Mayweather was very classy a good performance, Hatton showed a lot of heart. A good fight!

True, not into boxing at all - but flicked over to Khan's fight before MOTD...and didn't miss any of MOTD!

    Re: Hatton-Mayweather.

i knew after watching the first couple of rounds that it just wasn't gonna happen for ricky. firstly he took a couple of shots (which he knew he'd have to do when getting close up, mayweather had something like a 4-5inch reach advantage), and second he was also fighting the ref in stages of the match - but the best was when the ref deducted a point for a so called rabbit punch, so what does ricky do - shows both the ref and mayweather his arse.

credit to mayweather though he did the job, although some of the ways he went about it i wasn't overjoyed with. like his continual low ducking (not just low, but he could have been limbo dancing) and excessive use of his elbows and forearms every time hatton got close.

a bit of irony in my eyes was that first punch that mayweather landed when ricky went down first time, the punch may or may not have done the job in the first place. but ricky the proceeded to stumble and went head first flush into the corner post which sent him backwards and down.

    Re: Hatton-Mayweather.

I'm not too happy about it. I don't think it was fair at all.

I think Mayweather is a slightly better boxer... but I don't think it was a fair fight. Hatton is a brawler, and he got in close in the first round and really gave it to him. He hit him several times in the first round alone, made him stagger once, and you could see an expression of shock/horror on Mayweather's face in the early stages. But the whole thing was ruined by the ref who kept stopping it and splitting them up, and it ruined Hatton's flow.

Then Mayweather spends the rest of the fight bending down below the belt line, which is just wrong and against the rules... It's blatant cheating. His "unorthodox" defence by standing sideways and using his forearms and stuff is one thing, and technically ok, but ducking down that low just isn't.

And then Mayweather turns his back AND ducks down low, and hatton throws a punch which doesn't even land, and yet the ref deducts a point. I think that pushed Hatton to try too hard to knock him out, rather than sticking to his plan.

It was a good fight, and I do think Mayweather is a better boxer, but I think on another day (and with a different ref...) Hatton would have knocked him out in the first couple of rounds.

As for Amir Khan, he is a monster now! He still has that same super fast speed, but he is filling out and bulking up and looked a lot stronger. I'm looking forward to seeing him do really well.

    Re: Hatton-Mayweather.

i stayed up to watch the fight on box office, i havent slept since i got up for work sat morning at 8am

it was heart breaking to see the hitman fall but it was not his best performance though i hold the ref responsible for a big part of that the way he called it favoured mayweather greatly in the 1st half of the fight which frustrated hatton n boxing frustrated simply does not work becuz u make more mistakes, also i was not impressed with mayweathers back turning and ducking below rickys waist but saying that the desicive blow was a good shot right on hattons chin perhaps ricky will realise now he cant just absorb everything somebody throws at him and dodge a lil more

i loved how the good ol' british fans behaved last night booing during the american anthem and good on them for cheering ricky on the whole time

mayweather in the end though gained my respect simply because i think he underestimated ricky and was taught mayweather a bit of resoect, i felt that was reflected in mayweathers interview after the fight where he praised ricky, i didnt feel so bitter after that.

rickys reaction was brilliant though jokingly calling it a fluke and saying how mayweather farted about the ring
hattons a good ol' boy and i want to see him retire on a high after a few more victories.

i feel also mayweather was a lil jealous with hattons support and clearly tried winnign the fans over by saying he'd love to box in the uk

doesn't part of you feel that even if it isn't your own country's national anthem, u should show a bit of respect?
surely that will just create more tension and racism in the world?
