    6 Nations 2010

    Any Rugby fans out there?

    Full Fixtures List

I think the field is wide open this year. Of course I'm rooting for England, but I like to watch the Italians & French when they're on form

Not sure watching the Italians is that enjoyable! The French, certainly.

It's just that you don't get to see them in action that often, & they are capable of playing entertaining rugby now & again.

I find they are only entertaining when they manage to put the frightners on a team and you're fooled into thinking they might actually win.

I'm rooting for England of course! I have watched it intently for many years now and am not really that bothered who wins the tournament. I just hope the standard of play is better than much of the dross we have been seeing in recent years and starts tuning teams into contenders for the WC in 2011.

England should do ok this year. The back line for the morrow looks as good as any for a while although I'm not fully convinced by Care and hopefully Armitage will not look too jaded. Its good to see Wilkinson back and playing; how bad is the physio at Newcastle Falcons?

    Re: 6 Nations 2010

The BIG mistake England are undoubtedly going to make, and to some extent the fans too, it to pin too much hope on Wilkinson being 100% on form. (All possibly media fuelled)

As for the eventual outcome, it's very much an open field imo.

    Rooting for England though

Pleased to see England beat Wales of course, but I've a funny feeling I'd be even more pleased to see Scotland beat France today.

England V Wales was a good game though, and that last Welsh try was an absolute blinder.

    Re: 6 Nations 2010

Awesome games yesterday, especially Wales v Scotland yesterday, fantastic match, right til the end. Just how did Scotland throw it all away after such a great first half?

Anyhoo, anyone watching England v Italy?

    Re: 6 Nations 2010

Waiting with trepidation for the England France game this weekend. I think last time we played France in Paris Shane Geraghty had a blinder and we won(?).

Not going to happen this time. Unless we suddenly see a different team I think it will be more of the same rubbish but this time against a good team. I'm married into a french family so the humiliation will be too much.

Who's to blame for an awful six nations by Englands? 14/109 tackles missed against Scotland is really not good enough. No forwards stood out; neither did any of the backs. this has been the same for the tournament so far. Prior to my previous post Armitage has definately not hit the peak of last year.

Hopefully we will see Lawes, Foden and Youngs with Care and Borthwick out. I can only see us trying to build something for next season (again).

    Rant over!

    Re: 6 Nations 2010

With the way that England are playing at the moment I think that they would struggle to beat some of the top sides in the various European leagues, including ironically the Guinness Premiership, let alone France. To be honest I shall be cheering on the women’s team to win the grand slam as they at least play positive rugby. But when it comes to the men’s I’m actually hoping that we get stuffed because it is clear there are issues further up the chain than the players* and this would hopefully precipitate it. Whilst I think Johnson deserves more time, the likes of Ford et al. haven’t delivered either under him or Andy Robinson (who ironically seems to be doing a good job with the Scottish team), so their time should be up.

*I would make changes but where do you start as none of them have been playing that great, apart from obviously Foden who looks like an international running out on a Saturday afternoon for a local side. (Though as a Saints fan I am a tad biased)

    Re: 6 Nations 2010

Hi guys, I'm a bit late coming to this post but I'm a big Rugby fan also. Am an Ireland fan but have really enjoyed watching the French this year and I think the are fully deserving (so far) of the GS.

As for England, and I know it's been done to death, but Borthwick shouldn't be in the side let alone captain. Johnson has never coached before so what did everyone expect really? I think the thing that would really gall me if I were an England fan is the 'We are playing well' and 'I thought we did a lot of good things' that come out of the above two after the Italy game. I watched that match round a mates house and he is a big England fan. During the second half he just said 'I can't watch this crap anymore' and we went to the pub instead.

I think what is glaringly obvious though is that, if the world cup was now, aside from France, we would all be blown away by the SH teams. Even Ireland who are arguably the strongest home nation would possibly only be able to beat Aus, and even that is far from certain. Depressing all round really!

Out of interest, anyone previously or currently playing?
