Re: Need to lose belly fat!
My friend is a personal trainer and he says that lifting weights is better for losing weight than doing cardio.
Re: Need to lose belly fat!
If you are weightlifting you are working on creation of new muscles, no? Fat is burnt but not as intensively as from cardio (I am not a pro, just speaking basing on my personal experience)
Re: Need to lose belly fat!
Body by Science is a good book explaining a lot of that.
Also the paleosphere, stuff like that by Mark Sisson and Robb Wolf.
Re: Need to lose belly fat!
The way bodybuilders loose fat is through the cutting (diet) phase. By going on a calorific deficit. Too much cardio will affect gains.

This is untrue. Resistance training is superior. It raises your metabolic rate throughout the day, raising your energy requirements and consequently assisting in burning fat.

The "afterburn" effect amounts to in the region of 20-30 calories per day, or less than 5 minutes of cardio. It's really not that much extra. Cardio burns more calories during the actual exercise than the combined effect of resistance training and afterburn.
Re: Need to lose belly fat!
i have been on weight watchers and lost 2 stone last year. i have made changes and one was to skimmed pro active milk which doesn't taste to bad and it reduces calestorol too. try that.
i'm going back to WW next wk as i just need the regiment. i play football twice a week and on a thursday when i go drinking with the boys, we cycle most weeks and do around 20k between pubs :) off road too, we mountain bike. my arcylles heal is haribo. must stop eating haribo.

Enter an Ironman, and follow the Don Fink training plan. You can eat and drink whatever the hell you like and the weight will still fall off. :O_o1:

Re: Need to lose belly fat!
5 years on, no change , despite changing my eating habits! :angst:
Tried having watermelons for a week - useless.
Trying a new regimen now. Drinking a jug of 1/2 lemon and 5pcs of cucumber everyday - going to try this for a week.
Will also try having dinner at 7 instead of 9 and get 7 hrs sleep instead of 5-6.
Will also do 25 situps a day

Yeah, changing eating habits is only one facet of burning fat, or rather, not putting more on, the other is actually burning fat. ;)
Re: Need to lose belly fat!
Might be worth considering that fad diets are not going to work, and you should instead try a healthy diet and more exercise? 25 situps a day will make almost zero difference.

As others have said, it sounds like you're trying short things hoping for massive changes.
You need to make reasonable changes over a long period of time to actually see a difference.
Re: Need to lose belly fat!
More sleep, not eating later in the evening and a proper amount of exercise.
That and a proper diet, no fads or short term fixes. Job done.
