    Re: World Cup 2010 Thread!

Im going England, i really do think its our year! and no im not joking

no one seems to be overhyping it this year so i recon that could work in our favour

i also think that the English clubs going out of CL early doors will help.

also Rooney for the first time in his career is scoring for fun, with the added Fabio factor, at last a manager who is "World Class"

    Re: World Cup 2010 Thread!

Spain to me are the favourites. Argentina (not sure about how good of a manager Maradona is), Brazil will definitely be up there if they can get their act together. If England get to the semi's and practice their penalties then they have a good chance, they are not clear favourites and their chance very much relies on Rooney's form. France and Italy seem to have gone down since the last world cup, France have the players but I think Domenic is an idiot. Germany, well they will be efficient, we can be sure of that. Holland like Argentina have some amazing players but once again they need to get their act together.

Should be a great world cup, would not be surprised if a under dog team gets to the semi's

    Re: World Cup 2010 Thread!

Spain I would say are the most likely team to win it. Strong team, proved themselves before, and no big problems ahead of the World Cup.

Now let me get back to important things about the World Cup, like praying that no United players get injured.

    Re: World Cup 2010 Thread!

5 month back I'd have said England stood a very good chance, but there are too many big players in poor form at the moment (Ferdinand, Terry, Gerrard) and another couple of players still returning from injury (Cole, Rooney). If England are to win it, then those key players need to be better when the matches come along, or just luck into it to an extent.

I too don't rate Maradona as a manager (which isn't hard, let's face it), but they do have several very good players and an exceptional few. If their key players (Messi, Aguero, Tevez) are on form, then they've got a good chance. It's the fringe which is the concern.

Brazil are a bit of an unknown for me as I've not seen much of them. On paper they never look that strong, but come the tournament, they're always in with a chance. Probably 2nd favourites behind Spain, but primarily based on reputation.

Spain are obviously favourites. Getting Iniesta fit is absolutely critical for them. But who likes to rate the favourite anyway?

    Re: World Cup 2010 Thread!

hmmmm i have to fancy Spain for the final and to win overall. Such quality everywhere in their team.

Living in a mostly Denmark supporting household I do have a feeling they will surprise a few people - keep an eye out for AGF's Jakob Poulsen, quality player on his way to the prem soon it seems.

Im sure England will have a good run but fall over at the last hurdle as always

I agree and dont, they have Torres, Fabrigas and Iniesta all hurting at the moment which could be a massive blow.

At times I think its our year and at times I dont, but unless Rooney can get back to form I dont think we will do it, specially as we have lost JT as well.

    Re: World Cup 2010 Thread!

I think Argentina have the best team on paper. If they had a quality manager then they would be red hot favourites I think. As it is I think Spain look alot better than Brazil. To me the current Brazil side is pretty average by their standards. I would put it something like Spain-England-Argentina-Brazil. But as I said, if Argentina had a strong Capello-esque manager I think they would be the team to beat with the depth of talent they have available.

Spain may be favourites, but, they always seem to underachieve at the World Cup.
