Question World Cup Plans - What's yous?

    Hi,

With the World Cup fast approaching, and the full onslaught of advertising, a resurgence in national [sporting] pride, and widespread hysteria about to begin, now seemed an ideal time to ask how Hexus members are planning to spend their world cups.

Seeing the games in person? Live in South Africa and heading down?

I'm having a very budget [mundane] world cup - touring my mates houses for each game. The BBC/ITV broadcasting games in HD [their defintion of HD atleast] for the first time along with declinning costs for >40" tv's, and HD projectors, means it *should* be a visual treat!

The mid day/afternoon games are a bummer - anyone started to rehearse their sick-day excuse?

Re: World Cup Plans - What's yous?

I'll be moving the dinner table closer to the TV so I can watch it while eating dinner.

tbh I have no idea what time the games are on. I hate going to a pub to watch football though; tabloid britain usually appears and I can't usually find a seat.

Maybe hiding in a cave for the duration. If there's something that bores me more rigid than the Olympics. it's the world cup. Though cricket is right up there too. If I can't find a suitable cave, I may just settle for selling the TV, and using the money to buy a pile of books .... and ordering home delivery takeaway for the duration.

Personally, I reckon football is the invention of the devil .... with the express intention of convincing us that maybe an eternity of Hell isn't so bad after all .... as long as it doesn't involve having to watch football. Fire and brimstone I can put up with, but football? Yuck.

I can plan on going to my local pub to watch at least 1 game in 3D, just to see how good it actually is, not really bothered about the rest tbh.

I'm going to create a Prince of Thieves style tree house. I've been meaning to do that since I was 8 years old.

Ah yes, because watching twenty odd men run around in shorts and cry if they fall over is the ultimate expression of masculinity
