Re: Tips on how to lose 10kg?

You need to do fun exercise and manage what you eat. Don't go to the gym, run outside, the treadmill is much easier to run on because it takes away friction. Do fun sports like martial arts, rock climbing is a REALLY good one as is squash. Get to know different sports and gain talent rather than being a gym bunny which I personally believe builds the wrong types of muscle and can be dangerous.

Did I read that right ? "Don't just go to the gym, because it's dangerous, do rock climbing instead !"

    That's funny.

Don't get me wrong I think climbing is great, but real (i.e. outdoor) rock climbing is one of the most dangerous sports you can do in the UK.

I was an active rock climber for over 10 years. The hardest thing I ever climbed was E3 ("Mythical Monsters" in Pembroke - it's in Extreme Rock) and later that year, the guy I climbed it with was killed while climbing in the Alps.
On another trip, with a bunch of freshers, one of Britain's best climbers (Jimmy Jewel) fell and was killed. It was my friends who carried his body to the road. You can read about it here, or google it.

I've never experienced or even heard of anything like that happening in a gym.

I agree that climbing is a great thing to do, but let's be realistic about the risks. Even indoor climbing walls can be dangerous. And if you do climb, make sure you mention it on any life insurance application forms

sorry mate but i find it very hard to believe you lost 10kg in 4 weeks
thats about 5lbs a weeks which is 2500 calories of fat burnt a day
seein as the RDA of an average man is 2500 kcal that means you must starve yourself for a month

Re: Tips on how to lose 10kg?

I've been doing a fair bit of running (700 calories 3x a week) and limiting my intake to ~1800 calories a day and I've lost ~4 kilos in 5 weeks.

So I agree, 10kg in 4 weeks sounds like a mistake/exaggeration. 10lb maybe. Or mixing weights from different (and inaccurate) scales.

Re: Tips on how to lose 10kg?

Its simple as burning more calories than your consuming.

I think its about a deficiency of 3500 calories to lose a pound, works the other way around too.

    Hi j.o.s.h.1408,
Reduce the amount of rice from your meals and skip KFC meals from your diet.
Start any cardio exercise like running, jogging, swimming or cycling to start losing your extra 10 lbs and keep regular.

Spot on. The only complexity is to do with appetite.
Vegetables are low calories so if you eat a lot of them you wont have consumed many calories and you also wont feel hungry for a fair while.
OTOH, drink a full sugar coke and you will have consumed a load of calories and done little to stave off your hunger.

I think the "small meals often" idea is to stop you ever getting "starving" and blowing out on a 1500 calorie meal !

I also have this feeling (no hard evidence) that protein is better at keeping away hunger than carbs.

But .... whatever means you use, if you consume less than you burn, you will lose weight. It's impossible not too.
