    Post KK90 - Power Meal! - Porridge w/ protein powder!

    Hey!

    Ingredients:
    • Rolled Oats (e.g quaker oats)
    • Protein powder of your choice (I use chocolate)
    • Skimmed/Low fat milk
    • Sweetener (e.g Truvia)



    This is one of the best meals you can have for your breakfast to get your day started. Rolled oats give you a slow release of energy throughout the morning so you'll feel alert and won't feel like snacking.

    When you wake up on a morning your body is in a catatonic state, through the night you've been asleep (obviously) and your body hasn't been getting fueled. A dose of protein in your first meal of the day will bring your body back out of this catatonic state and get your metabolism and energy levels fired right back up.

    The sweetener is an optional extra, I personally don't have a great sweet tooth but should you be one for something sweeter then go ahead and stick some in!

    I would advise to put your protein powder in the milk before the porridge, it seems to mix a lot better. Or shake it up in your shaker then pour it into the bowl.

    Sounds good! Just make sure of the sugar content on them. As long the oats you're using are just 100% plain old oats. Added sugars much like in the ready brek brands often turn your power breakfast a bit cheeky!

    Yes, this is totally plain and unsweetened. It was very bland before, but i'm used to it now. defo good for breakfast.

    Excellent!

    If you're ever wanting something extra in it try adding a tiny bit of raw honey whilst your porridge is piping hot. Stir it well and it can add a cheeky bit of sweetness.

    Although honey is made from the same base sugars as your every day table top sugar it's a completely unprocessed form. There's said to be some added health benefits as as it's unprocessed none of the small amounts of minerals etc will be removed. That's always up for debate but if it's a Monday morning and you need some spring in your step give it a whirl!

    if u dont like processed sugars, try Jaggery, raw sugar. I use it for my Thai curries and it's loverly.

    I would agree for sure if you're not focusing on calorie control. I perhaps should have given some alternatives! If you're not wanting to focus heavily on calorie restrictions then go for g8ina's suggestion!

    Definitely agree it is AMAZING in curries too!

    Gonna. Have to try this as porridge is what I usually have with a drop of honey in it.

    The protein will help my pre-shift workout as well.

    Add some fats, eg yoghurt. Wanna stimulate the body to burn fat, not store it. Higher fat diet = faster loss of weight.

    Ideal ratio is 40:30:30 - carbs:fatsroteins.
