    Re: Brazil world cup

I was speechless for about 80 minutes. I mean, I wanted Germany to win but...

And here I was, thinking Spain losing 1-5 to the Netherlands was a humiliation.

More of the same tomorrow please - lets have a European final, with a Dutch victory!

    Re: Brazil world cup

The Germans were given too much time and space by the Brazillians. Hence the score. The scary thing is Germany wasn't exactly firing on all cylinders and are yet to reach their peak. Ozil has struggled throughout the tournament. Ozil pulls the strings when Germany really plays well.

It will have long reaching repercussions. For example one thing will have to be renamed as 7:1 can't be called a close shave.

Kroos and Khedira ran the midfield and controlled the game impeccably, in my opinion. Lahm and Hummels were solid at the back (I wish we had defenders of their class).

Germany didn't need to fire on all cylinders, and it's probably harder to display that when your team is scoring at will instead of fighting for a victory against first rate opponents.

    Re: Brazil world cup

Brazil have been living on their past but it is clear this team isn't as good as the team at 1998, 2002 or 2006.

That's a wakeup call for Argentina as well although they seem defensively better than Brazil.

Well, it's easy to control the game when the opposition wasn't exactly closing down or tracking players. The Germans did a poor job defending against Brazil's consolation goal.

Scoring goals is not the same as measuring team performance. I recall when I played in a side which beat a team 18 nil. We were a top side with a number of semi-pros and an ex-Chelsea school footballer against a bottom side . Our manager was upset at our performance, despite the scoreline, because we lost our shape and missed a number of chances.

Perhaps, but they've won more world cups than anyone else.
