Yeah, I was thinking we'd have a thread (maybe stickied?) where we'd share stories of whatever we did - plus piccies if appropriate (like when I post about rock-climbing, for instance). Being able to link to a track of the session just gives more info and context for those who want it :)
Re: Would you guys consider.. a virtual running thread?
Well, as a result of entering that adventure race in Sept, went out for a proper run last night. Did 5.1 miles in 39 min 26 sec cross country. Was a little hot by the end, wot.
Then posted that time to my team mates, with the endomondo'ed route, to say we'd better all three aim at a sub 2hr half marathon, and roughly a 30 mile mtb at speed, and some kayaking time before the race. The latter isn't too important since not very long, but we need to make sure our technique is good.
The newbie in our trio is stoked, 'nervous and excited' is how he put it, so the numbers will help motivate the speed and training.
Will aim to bring that time down on the 5 miler, since it's a good blast. 4 miles were in the 7:10-7:30 range.
A goal is sooooooooooo important - at least, in my case
:)

Re: Would you guys consider.. a virtual running thread?
I need to come up with a new training plan myself.
Got a few 10k's lined up which don't need to train for as I'm not trying to get any time, just having a laugh with friends.
74mile MTB cycle to Brighton in Sept I need to get into shape for, haven't done that distance off-road before and its going to be a long time in the saddle (estimated time is about 8 hours due to hold ups and waiting for team mates).
Another Tough Mudder (or 2) next year and I think I've been roped into a Marathon in spring with the GF :/
Re: Would you guys consider.. a virtual running thread?
This might be just the thing to motivate my backside out of my house(scary place). I'm in!
Re: Would you guys consider.. a virtual running thread?
Did my 10mile cycle to work this morning, normally wouldn't post about it but it was so crap this morning...
10min away from home my tyre was completely shredded by a load of glass someone had kindly broken on my cycle path just around the bend so you can't see it. Walk home, swap out both tyres and tubes for my MTB tyres, try again. In the process I dropped my phone and cracked the screen :( 30min late for work as well. BOO!
Re: Would you guys consider.. a virtual running thread?
I'm currently training for a triathlon (2 weeks to go now!!)
I did my first brick session yesterday (bike ride quickly followed by a run)
It was a weird feeling on my legs for the first km or so.
20km bike ride followed by 5km run :D Only doing a sprint triathlon but after yesterday I'm feeling much more confident :D
Re: Would you guys consider.. a virtual running thread?
I have only just seen this thread... oops. I have used Endomondo, but they don't give you nearly as much data now as they used to without having to pay for it. I use Starava now, and I can upload files directly from my Garmin to that so I don't have to worry about the phone battery lasting (which it doesn't).
This should be a link to my Strava profile: http://app.strava.com/athletes/1166109
Have a scan and see what I've been up to!
Re: Would you guys consider.. a virtual running thread?
Been meaning to post here for ages - my idea was for mutual support. For some of us, getting fit can be a bit of a ... struggle, and as we all know, some training days are good, and on other days, not so good, so it was envisaged as an area where you could post a particular good result 'cos you feel proud of what you did (like Zak in his other thread) or have a grumble about a bad session! It isn't meant to be competitive with anyone, other than yourself!
Re: Would you guys consider.. a virtual running thread?
I'd be up for this.
Here's my Strava link: http://www.strava.com/athletes/5814608
Currently I only cycle but I could be persuaded to do some running.
Also Tumble, your from Burscough? I'm down the road in Maghull, and I'm currently looking to move somewhere around Ormskirk / Burscough.
Re: Would you guys consider.. a virtual running thread?
In Burscough atm. Get yourself up to the bicycle lounge in Ormskirk for 9 on a Sunday for a ride out with the HMCC. A fine bunch of peeps :)
Re: Would you guys consider.. a virtual running thread?
Ahh the Bicycle Lounge, I've been in there a few times (but not bought anything yet). What sort of distances / speeds do you cover? I don't want to rock up and be blown away, and is it a simply turn up and ride affair?
Re: Would you guys consider.. a virtual running thread?
there's usually a few groups go out. Noone gets left behind, and the C group is usually quite nicely paced. Depending on who leads it out, you'll do 40-50 miles (with cake). B tends to go a little further (or faster) and the A group is for the racer nutters....
Re: Would you guys consider.. a virtual running thread?
Group C sounds ideal then. I may see about joining it next week.
Re: Would you guys consider.. a virtual running thread?
Cougho - your PM box is full!
Re: Would you guys consider.. a virtual running thread?
Sorry Tumble (and database) - it's clear now, there was messages from years ago.
