Ironman Melbourne on 22nd March. Not sure I'm doing enough bike miles to be honest, but to be honest a 5 hour bike ride in the snow and ice is just NOT going to happen.
Yeah, the thing is from Garmin Connect (web based). I've got a Forerunner 910xt, but if you get the Garmin app for your smartphone you can use the same interface.

Yeah, having to make do with my turbo trainer and Sufferfest videos and spinning. Not ideal, but I supposed 3 hours of spin classes probably equates to 4 or so hours on the bike. Assuming I'm able to match the Outlaw split I did, I should be looking at ~ 6 hours, so it's not THAT far away. The bike leg is on a closed motorway too, so at least it should be flat(ish) and fast with a decent road surface.
Nice work, Boredom!!
One can never stop saying Thank You

Blimey, that's some solid exercise right there. I set off to do my first 10k in years on the treadmill in my hotel yesterday just to see if I've built up the fitness enough to finish it. I got to 7.18 miles before I realised that the treadmill was tracking in miles rather than km...
Decent enough (for me) average pace of 4 mins 9 secs per km too, but I'm feeling it today. Seriously considering having a shot at 10 miles at a slower pace in a couple of days when the aches subside.
Wait, you thought your pace for 1 mile was your pace for 1k!?
No way I could hit anything approaching 4 mins 9 secs/km at the moment. Maybe 4:30 on a treadmill.
Hmm, can't match the sheer intensity of what you guys are doing, but between the 7th of Feb and the end of the month, I will be snowboarding at least for 18 days, aiming for at least 7-8 hours per day. If I can still stand at the end of the day, I'll throw some rope skipping / shadow boxing. I want to build strength, speed and power, but those goals are secondary to building skills (I want to get decent at freestyling this season).
Hope you've been doing your squats!
I always find my quads and calves suffer from always being on your toes when snowboarding, I have 7 days in Austria in April and need to get back into some sort of shape before that

Thanks, I will definitely check it out. Haven't been to the gym for a while, but the judo teacher would make us do squats while holding our partners for warm up Since we tend to pair with people roughly our own size it is nowhere the maximum I can squat, but there is challenge from balancing a person as opposed to a perfectly balanced weight.
I am not too worried (yet), because my calves are probably the most developed naturally part of my body. There are definitely room for improvement, but it seems to build pretty quickly on it's own whenever I engage in sports that uses it. Though perhaps I will eat those words after 10 consecutive days
At the moment I am more worried about having to wake up at 5AM every morning (although I can probably sleep during the 90min commute)
Decided I'd see if I could top the other day's run on today's intervals session...

it's on a treadmill (though at a 3% incline to give some semblance of proper running, but I'm chuffed with an average pace of 3 mins 31. It's going to be hard to top that, so now I'm working on stamina. And to think that I was working on the theory that I might just be able to make 10k without throwing up by August...
Not sure if knowing this will motivate or depress (*), but this will show your percentile for distance of 1 mile and up: you http://www.heartbreakhill.org/age_graded.htm
(*) To be honest, I found it pretty sad that even my very best mile run is merely is barely at (or just shy of) the 70th percentile. There was a time years ago I aspired to hit the 80th percentile, but to do so I'd have to do a mile in little more than 4:30 which my best fell almost a *minute* short. And that is my best. My average is considerably slower (over 6min).

76.something. Not too shabby for a fat lad, if you ask me. Hard work will surely improve it, right?
Plus I'm having a blast training (except my hungover 5k this morning)
Are these numbers supposed to be done on a treadmill? I'm significantly faster on one, but its boring! Just loaded up on sufferfest videos though, so that might make it tolerable.
