Re: The end is near... (football relegation talk)
So those of us with orange/yellow in our kits are doomed?
At least Hull had the decency to return three non-Tory MPs ;)
As a lifelong Tigers fan (I remember the days of being bottom of the 4th Division and £1m in debt....), I have to say that if we don't beat Burnley tomorrow we're stuck with relying on others to go down rather than ourselves to stay up: can't see us getting anything from Tottenham or Man U. Also have to say I almost choked on my coffee at "... them and hull have been in the EPL long enough to not be in this situation." - this is only our, what, fourth or fifth season in the top flight? Never been there prior to 2008. I'm pretty sure we're not used to the rarified atmosphere yet....

SNP might disagree, as might Watford ;)
A friend claimed they fell over the line into automatic promotion. I agree - over the corpse of my club which collapsed just short of the play offs :(
Re: The end is near... (football relegation talk)
I told you Sunderland would be up for it.... I hate you :p
Well we scraped a point, but more importantly, we played pretty decent football. Even more importaintly, Burnley bloody won! Fantastic spirit from them to keep on fighting.
Now our fate is in the Hands of Manchester UTD and Spurs beating Hull. Both better teams, both fighting for position so I have a shred of hope.

I think we may have used up two season worth of luck these last two games though!
I think it's more than likely that Hull are going down now. But you never know. A lot of teams are still in the 'danger zone'.
Re: The end is near... (football relegation talk)
gutted to see Newcastle get a point. poor Burnley. ruined the end to their season that. I should clarify that's noting against Newcastle or its fans, purely disgruntlement with the ownership and problems that's brought.

As I said in a previous post, poor refereeing will be a deciding factor! Win is a win at the end of the day. Can't deny the fact that your players wanted it despite being dominated statistically.

It is a shame to see Burnley go straight down, but they didn't even attempt to do what's necessary to compete in the Prem. They have a fantastic manager and fantastic fans, but the harsh reality is they actually deserve to go down also. The premiership is one of the most, if not the most competitive leagues in the world, with that comes a necessity to invest to succeed and they just didn't do that.
I'm sure I'll end up in some rather heated discussions about this with my brothers girlfriend, as he is a pretty loyal Burnley fan.

This weekends predictions?

Leicester v Sunderland will be a key match, as will Newcastle v QPR. Hull v Tottenham will be interesting, but Spurs seem almost eager to lose recently (Uefa cup avoidance?) so wouldn't rule out a Hull win.
Depending how this weekend's matches go everything could be decided. If I had to choose one to watch it would be Leicester - Sunderland. Two well performing sides who both still have the desire, and need, to win.
Re: The end is near... (football relegation talk)
Southampton 1 - 0 Aston Villa
Burnley 2 - 0 Stoke (irrelavant I know)
QPR 1 - 1 Newcastle
Sunderland 0 - 1 Leicester (Ulloa 23')
Tottenham 3 - 2 Hull
Come on you Foxes!
Re: The end is near... (football relegation talk)
I can see a lot more goals in Sunderland - Leicester, but which way the match will go I'm not sure. And I think Newcastle will beat QPR - much to my dismay. Newcastle 3 - QPR 1 is my prediction. I think Hull-Spurs will be a 1-0 tedium, possibly 0-0
Re: The end is near... (football relegation talk)
Southampton 2 - 0 Aston Villa
Burnley 0 - 0 Stoke
QPR 1 - 1 Newcastle
Sunderland 2 - 1 Leicester (And I reckon Graham will start it off with his second Sunderland goal)
Tottenham 1 - 1 Hull
I'm rubbish at these things though. Always getting the worst score on these at work.
Just as long as Sunderland win and Hull don't, it's a good weekend for me.
Re: The end is near... (football relegation talk)
Its impossible to call Sunderland at the moment, its like they have a bloody guardian angel. If I was to take a guess, I would say their luck has run out and Leicester will continue their excellent form however this is an away game for them and the Sunderland fans are going to be there to make an atmosphere I think.
Southampton will lose to Villa. They are in a slump, the players have probably agreed terms with other clubs behind closed doors... their season is over. Villa have been really impressive recently, Sherwood is having a real impact, but this is away so there wont be the same fan noise to drive them along. Dont see this being much of a game.
I would be surprised if Burnley still had the fight to beat Stoke, who have been relatively consistent this season but I would like to see it.
Tottenham.... please please please beat Hull. I think they will, Hull just seem to have nothing at the moment but Tottenham just dont seem to be firing at the moment.
As for Newcastle, its difficult to call. Everyone in the league seems to hate Newcastle though so I wouldn't be surprised if QPR turned up for the game purely out of bitterness. Does look like we have some fight in us though, Colloccini needs to turn up in a big way.
All in all, MOTD should be good!

Agreed, I may be look at it through my fingers though!
Re: The end is near... (football relegation talk)
I couldn't have been more wrong about Southampton. Seems like they were dominated possession wise.

Hmm, I didn't think Southhampton wanted it THAT much!
Quiet happy to see the QPR result ;) but it doesn't really help us. Glad Hull lost.
Kind of a shame there was no goals in our game, I would've had money on at least 2 goals in the game. Shame we couldn't have kept Leicester in the fight for longer ;)
