Obviously misunderstood your comment about Spurs in that post

So the path of zero ambition continues...

    http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/32980980

    Main Quote:
"But both parties opted not to pursue a possible deal following differences over recruitment and transfer policy."

Now I'm not sure Patrick Viera, a man with minimal managerial experience, would be the right man to take over any Premiership club, but this quote really sums up the attitude at Newcastle. They are just looking for another 'Yes!' man and have no interest in actually achieving anything despite this whole, 'we have to bolt the horse on' stuff that the fat controller was going on about. I don't blame them either, I have already voiced my concerns about Pardews long-term capability but there is no denying he was a patsy, which is essentially what they want to replace him with.
Looking like (if we actually manage to persuade ANYONE to take the position) we are going to end up with Steve McLaren, a man who already turned us down on multiple occasions and couldn't even get a reasonably decent Derby team into the championship playoffs. I personally dont see him performing even as well as Pardew did on his worst days so looks like another season of scrapping for survival for the Toon!

On a different note, I cannot believe what John Carver did to Jonas and Ryan Taylor; letting them go in the same phone call. Disgraceful behaviour. What kind of a gutless, compassion-less moron would do something like that?

Doesn't look like there is much chance of Dick staying at Sunderland. What's the current rumour for his replacement?

Agreed, totally gutless. Jonas is an outstanding story for you guys and Carver has just spat all over it.

Dick is long gone sadly. Sounds like his wife didn't want him to do another year. But it's for the best TBH. We need to put in place a manager we can rely on for the next 5 years and we need to stop chopping and changing ever year. Dick didn't have 5 years in him. Which is a total shame as I believe we will not get a manager as technically capable or as successful as him.

Lots of names have been bandied around recently. Many were never an actual consideration but just an effort to stir up a story.

Currently it's between Sean Dyche and Bernd Schuster. Bernd Schuster being my preference, with his Real Madrid experience hopefully he can take Mr Short's wallet and get some interesting talent and inject some pace into the attack.

Our back 4 no long looks like it's about to fall about. We'll pick up Coates pretty cheap and hopefully finally nail Van Dijk (he's keen to join the premier league but he is going to have to get to grips with losing a lot more often than he already does!) so I think I'm cautiously optimistic if we get Bernd Schuster. Sean Dyche on the other hand, I'm not a great fan of. It just doesn't feel like a great idea to pick up a manager who relegated a team last year...

Steve McClaren looks very close to signing for you. Feels like a substandard employment by Ashley, saves a few £££'s and he knows he keep Steve off his wallet. Everything Cashley wants.

I actually think Sean Dyche would be a great manager and would happily take him over almost all of the other names thrown about at the Toon. The way I see it, he managed a team that was significantly lacking in quality and had them fighting way above their weight. Sounds like the perfect manager for a North East team if you ask me!
I don't see him leaving Burnley though if I'm honest, he is well liked there.

Well I may have to eat my words regarding Advocaat being long gone ! In which case Sean Dyche and everyone else can swivel for the next 12 months.

But if this does come to be then that's great. We have 12 full months to find a suitable replacement for the dutchman and in the mean time we get a very successful manager. Happy days.

I just saw the news on the BBC, amazing stuff for you guys. Really interesting to see how he does with a full year including transfers at his fingertips.

equally though Ashley is no longer on the board, but the coaching staff are! Could bode well if they (and not Ashley) get to influence transfer policy. It still needs Ashley to put up the funds though. Let's see how that turns out.

Re: The end is near... (football relegation talk)

This is the best article I have read on the subject so far:

    http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/33089833

Pretty much sums up the situation at the Toon perfectly, especially the section talking about this myth of Newcastle supporters expecting to win everything:
" Bit of a myth this one - the wisdom being that Newcastle's fans demand a Premier League challenge every season and a team shaping up to challenge for the Champions League.

This is a nonsense. Newcastle's vast support simply want a team that reflects the fact that 52,000 Tynesiders turn up at St. James' Park for every home game, a team making a decent fist of it in the league and challenging for a cup. "

Personally this appointment leaves a rather bitter taste in my mouth, but we are seeing signs of change so I feel its only fair to withhold judgement until the new regime has had a fair shot. They have offered McLaren a £1m bonus if he can bring in some silverwear and put him on the board which, at least on the surface, seems to be a departure from the puppeteering days of Pardew.

I'm slightly baffled that Graham Carr hasn't had the spotlight shined in his eyes, he is after all in charge of recruitment so is just as much to blame as the others for position at the end of last season.

What the? You think the world's gone mad some days. TTIP negotiations behind closed doors, the EU not helping Greece, Cameron being a retreatist Europhile and then this... what is the world coming to!

Yeah really strange decision. He pulled them from the brink last season. Him and his son have been at the centre of a fair few indiscretions though!

oh that ostrich thing is being blown out of all proportion. He was trying to say the reporter must have buried his head in the sand (like an ostrich). Frankly it's hardly a big deal, even the reporter said he didn't really mind. I can't help but wonder though wtf is the point in sacking the guy who saved your bacon? Is it cos the owner is Thai and he has a problem with that video of the manager's son? I thought Pearson (senior) was the one to sack him. Can't be fairer than that. And they still sack the manager! Crazy. Even Mike Ashley gives managers a few weeks at the start of the season to lose a few games before he wields the axe. I can't imagine what moral must (not) be like in the Leicester camp right now. I bet they crash and burn this season, and the Thai owners will only have themselves to blame.

And when he got in a scuffle on the pitch. He served a ban for thay IIRC.
I suppose it depends who they bring it replace him, but I suspect you're correct.
