    Football Talk - 2016/17 Season

So. Sunderland seem to have had an ever so slightly rocky build up but, hopefully, we can now really kick on and hope for not-a-relegation-fight season!

How is your team doing? Any fears? Any hopes? Any frustrations?

We (Newcastle) seem to be the best prepared that we have been for years, but the Championship is a tough league, and I don't think we'll walk it like some think we will. Should get promoted, but maybe not directly...

If I was a betting man I'd put money on your coming straight back up as you've recruited aggressively and in the right spots. But the differences in styles in the leagues is always a hard task to get past. You almost have to build a team to beat the Championship and then build a new team to survive the Prem.

Best of luck to you, I quite look forward to having the 3 north eastern teams back in one league!

So how was the first weekend for everyone?

Whilst you can never be really happy after losing I think that a last ditch lucky goal, against our cobbled together side gave me enough of a reason to be sort of happy with the performance.

How's it going for everyone else?

Meh, have you SEEN what's been going on with Hull?!

Still, beat the Champions in our first match ... so, that makes us the Champions now, right? Guys? That's how it works, yeah?

Re: Football Talk - 2016/17 Season

    Flashback!

Couldn't be more pleased with progress. Was a bit dodgy at the start, I thought we were in for another season of not living up to potential, but after a wobble in the first few weeks, we've now gone 9 wins in a row and built a 5-point gap to the next team. Huddersfield and Norwich seem to have faded a bit, and if the teams behind keep on beating each other, it's good for us. Not getting cocky though, 5 points is only 2 wins, so we aren't clear yet, but it's a good place to be.
Maybe relegation was what we needed to clear out the expensive flops (ahem, Sissoko) and get some people in who actually want to play for the club.
I'm not bitter though, I'm glad our former players are having an impact at other clubs. Like the 1 good game in 10 that Sissoko has...

As if to reinforce what I've said, Sissoko is now out of Europe. Sooo desperate to play Champions League, can't be bothered when he gets there. Now officially known as Moussa 'Article 50' Sissoko.

Re: Football Talk - 2016/17 Season

I'm conflicted with the performance of Arsenal. On the one hand we started the season with a poor performance but since then we've been performing well. That is, until November. I simply cannot understand what it is about this month that causes us to drop off a cliff in terms of winning. I suppose we're into the RO16 in the Champions League but it seems like we're destined for Bayern Munich again (ugh). I'm hoping Wenger can sort out the mentality and we can have a stronger December - 3 draws in a row isn't really good enough for a title challenge come the end of the season.

Man City totally losing it against Monaco. Two away goals to the French team, I don't fancy City making it to the next round.

Spoke too son, game ended 5-3 to Man City. Really looking forward to the second leg, think Man City have a really good chance of winning the whole thing this year. Real Madrid have to be favourites though.
