Re: Anyone here into the NFL?

In my opinion it has similarities to Rugby League, but not so much Union any more. The line of scrimmage is the scrum, the quarter back is your scrum half and the running back is a winger. The roles have more specialization and sub-divisions within roles, but the aim is still to score more points than your opponent.

This is the explanation of a simpleton who just about understands the game.

Lions host the Raiders this Sunday at 6pm UK time - beating the Raiders won't be an easy task like it used to be!

The Dolphins get to host the Cowboys at the same time - and Romo is expected to be back, so that also might not be as easy as it could have been. (And we could really use the wins!)

Meanwhile the Browns won't play until they host the Ravens for Monday Night Football on Dec 1st (actually early Tuesday morning UK time).

I think the Lions fanbase is so disenfranchised at the moment that they could face a team of smurfs and jelly babies and fans would be worried.

I hope Suh tears through and gets a few sacks on Romo for you.

Hear Manziel is to start over McCown now for the remainder of the season.

Makes sense tbh, give him game time. Should progress to get better as he needs the experience.

But no doubt Browns will be going for another QB in draft.

If you take a shot at a young QB you really do need to let him have a real opportunity. Having said that, must be so frustrating being the Browns and seeing everyone pass on Manziel and then being the team that takes him and then looking like he might not pan out.

Really hope he turns it around and proves people wrong.

It looks like Manziel has been demoted to 3rd string. Somewhere I've picked up the idea that it might be for persistent misdemeanors.

Reddit seems to think that the Cowboys want him, so he can sit behind Romo for a few years and learn his trade. That could be interesting to see.

LIONS!!! So close! You guys seem to be getting robbed several times a season lately.

Here's the video of the 'facemasking' violation that actually wasn't which lead to a do-over over the last play, and that turned out as above.

Re: Anyone here into the NFL?

I'm trying not to think about the facemask call, because I can see how it gets called if you only see it from behind. But to not be able to challenge/review calls in the last few seconds of a game is madness. Really though, the Lions lost to the Packers on a last second Hail Mary throw from Rodgers, after having a 20 point lead, that's the crux of it.

With that the best they can do is 8-8 and but for the most bizarre of circumstances, their playoff chances are dashed. Time to look forward to the draft I think.

The NFL is thinking of changing the officiating rules for the playoffs. There have been so many wrong game deciding calls this year. Changing the rules between the season and playoffs is not a step that done much.

BTW, it seems as if my Giants are trying NOT to get to the playoffs.

The teams passed on him because of his off-the-field behavior. His football skills were never in doubt. It really looks like he is proving all of his doubters right. The Browns took a chance on him and it does not seem to be working out for them.

Even after his "rehab," he still goes out partying. Only time will tell if that gets fixed. If the Browns can get a quality QB in the draft I'd say draft the QB.

Manziel played pretty well against the 49ers. His defense were superb at times too, gave him plenty of time to scan the field.

Hopefully keeps this up for the remainder of the season and gets his head screwed on right!

Definetly looks as if he is maturing on the field. Had to laugh though when he made his interception, comes off and checks the video feed on the Surface Pro. Proceeds to header the tablet 5 times lol.

Congrats to the Giants! Beat my poor Dolphins despite a decent effort by them.

Hope you guys can get into the playoffs and do well this year!

Heard OBJ played well, will need to give the game a watch before the weekend.

I'm in awe of OBJ skills regarding his superios catches. Them one handed catches, he makes it look so easy lol.

Thanks. If our defense could actually stop somebody I'd be a lot more happy about the win and our prospects.

It seems like every week or so OBJ is making a great catch. His presence of mind and awareness of where his 1st was on that TD catch is astounding. Then to drag the other foot while maintaining control as he hit the ground. WOW!.! Just Wow.

Re: Anyone here into the NFL?

What an insane year. Dolphins have now fired their head coach, their offensive and defensive coordinators and now their GM who's been replaced in-house. The hunt for a head coach is on and one of our best players, Cameron Wake, suffered a season ending injury. The year of playoff contention hope turned into a year of little hope, and then in the last game of the season we actually managed to wallop the Patriots. Take what you can get, I suppose!

Re: Anyone here into the NFL?

The Lions went from 1 in 7 to 7 of 9, which was better than it seemed it might be.

It looks likely they will lose the DC Teryl Austin to a Head Coaching post somewhere. It also looks likely that they will keep Head Coach Jim Caldwell, which has pros and cons.

I personally (take note decision makers, a man on the internet has an opinion!) would like them to keep Offensive Coordinator Jim Bob Cooter, who has the best name in sports, but also seems to have gelled with Stafford and helped the offense produce much better in the second half of the season.
