Hmmm, still haven't got pics of the new wheels up. I took some selfies from one of the more picturesque spots that's also easy to stop at back in the summer, but didn't get round to posting them, and since then my new phone ate my SD cards so I don't have those pics any more Not sure when I'll next be on the bike now we're edging in to winter, either - I might have to suck it up and get seasons tickets for the next couple of months....
Look at me, bumping threads like a necromancer
Saturday's ride attracted a couple of photographers. Here's a classy B&W of me - going full-on MAMIL - on my beloved Dawes Galaxy AL

Very nice bike.
I'm thinking I need more of a road bike like that.
Society's to blame,
Or possibly Atari.

Yeah, I used to ride road bikes when I was in my late teens and I just can't get comfy on a flat bar enough more.
That's a drop bar tourer, so while it's more road leaning the geometry is a little more relaxed and it came pre-kitted with mudguards and rack. Otherwise it's 24 speed so lots of low gearing for hill climbs, and it's on 700x35C Schwalbe Marathon, which give a lovely comfortable ride without too much rolling resistance. It's intended for pulling long distances with moderate to heavy loads, which makes it just about the perfect road commuting bike.
This is what I am riding
But this is what I want to be riding
Not sure if these count as they are electric bikes but I do have to pretend to peddle by UK law!

If you have to pedal they totally count
I'm a big advocate of e-bikes if it mean people choose that over cars, and not everyone can push 14 mile commutes by pedal.
Nice thread bump, btw - it's reminded me that I've got two new sets of wheels since I last posted in here: I really should do an update
The electric bike has been a god send for me as becoming ill with M.E has literally stopped me from being able to exert myself in pretty much any way. Adding this battery power to my new feeble body has got me back outside in the sun with the wind rushing past my bald head again.

Like computers i have build my own, and with bicycles that have gone down since i was 14, though in the old days my dad did help build, dad did both track and highway cycling when he was young.
I have mostly used Campagnolo parts and i have never gone big on the frames as i have never been riding competitive, though as i kid i often did 100 - 200 km in a day.
My last bike had a triathlon handlebar.
All my bikes aside for one have been stolen, and the one that was not stolen was run over by a semi doing a R turn in front of me.
Last bicycle was in 1989 and i did just about 3000 Km on it before it got stolen, and by then i was a hardcore smoker of ciggies and weed so i did not do any long trips on that bike, and every time i was stopped for something the computer was paused.
My cycling days are long gone now, TBH i cant even do my own default walking pace, when i forget i find out after a KM or 2 of walking and then i better have my inhaler at hand.
Vanmoof s3. Best electric bike ever!
