Who is Your NFL MVP and Why?

I'd have to vote for Cam Newton. He took a 7-9 team and turned them into a 13(14?)-0 team. The Panthers are not just winning, but blowing teams out.

My 2nd place vote would got to Tom Brady. It's great that he can win with no running game to speak of and a injury depleted receiving corp. I expect this of him, that's why I give the nod to Cam.

I'd put OBJ forward or maybe Todd Gurley? Found them both cracking players to watch.

Re: Who is Your NFL MVP and Why?

I always find MVP tougher to pick for the NFL than other sports, I think because it's such a team-dependent sport. The Panthers did an incredible job this year but how much came down to Cam Newton? The Broncos won it but would anyone pick Manning for MVP?

Of course, it really hinges on how you evaluate MVP in the first place. Most Valuable for their team in that year? Or 'Best player/performance' in the league that year, or something else?

Aaron Rodgers for the Packers is consistently an incredible QB and a real leader on his team. I'll always at least have him in consideration. JJ Watt is also an incredible player who would bring something special to any single team you put him on - but defensive players rarely get an love in the MVP race.

As much as I dislike the Patriots both Tom Brady and Rob Gronkowski always come to play and overall they did very well with a roster that got injured.

OBJ is proving himself a capable receiver too but I don't know that he had an incredible year this year.

Any of those players would be an upgrade on almost any team in the league at their positions.

    ....

Just checked the stats and Cam really did put up big numbers this year. Everything points to him. I just somehow can't bring myself to want him as the QB on my team over someone like Rodgers.

So, having said that, my heart choice is for Rodgers based on not only his performance but his intangibles, his leadership etc.
If I have to go by numbers then it comes down to Gronk or Cam. Being a Dolphins fan I can't choose Gronk no matter how much he resembles a human tank. So Cam it would be!
