I just bought a skipping rope...

...but I don't know how to skip!!! Any tips?

Skipping is supposed to be an excellent calorie burner and cardio workout.

Hold one end of the rope in each hand so it dangles down in front of you in a loop. Step over the loop so it's behind you. Then whirl the rope over your head, and as it approaches your feet again, jump in the air so you skip over it. Then keep on whirling and jumping.

Is that what you had in mind?

Find a primary-age schoolgirl or two and they'll probably be able to teach you some more advanced techniques.

preferably ones that are related to you or related to friends of yours, that way you can avoid any confusion about what you are *really* doing with little schoolgirls

To be more simple, jump over the rope. (Or skip)

Actually, now I have the Power of Alcohol TM to aid my thinking, skipping is a bit like patting your head while rubbing your stomach (or something). You have to learn to co-ordinate your hands and your feet. It's like riding a bike- hard to master, but once learned you never forget

Remeber kids they can be lethal.

The milkman round our way found a guy hanged in a tree by one. I think hed been trying to do a awesome skipping rope routine and it ended badly. Slipped on some dog ****, crash, bang and hung himself in a tree.

Remember, Boxers use skipping ropes cos they are hard as nails.

I think realise my cooridnation was *that* bad but I really suck at skipping as I discovered recently - the best I could do was look like I was hurdling on the spot three times in a row. My wife thought it was very funny.
