Small SSD for Windows 7? (stutter-free)
Hi guys,
I saw that Windows 7 beta has a disk requirement of 16GB.
I want to install on a small SSD, and use a separate disk for data.
Have any of you installed on a small & cheap SSD? (Ideally, 16 or 32 GB, and cost less than GBP 100/USD 140).
Can you post your boot times? Did you experience the stutter and other problems caused by the JMicron controller discussed in Anand's article?
Thanks!
P.S. Apologies, I had to delete all links from my post - new members not allowed to include links.
P.P.S. Anandtech also has a 'New JMicron JMF602/JMF601 Revision B supposed to fix' article
Re: Small SSD for Windows 7? (stutter-free)
Pre £100 SSD drives aren't worth buying, as the speeds aren't that different from HDD drives. If you want to go with SSD, you're gonna have to get a decent one such as the OCZ OCZSSD2-1VTX30G which is about £110.

Yer, I got burned by a stuttering JMicron based OCZ SSD when they first came out, replaced it with a WD velociraptor and haven't bothered trying any other SSDs just yet
