60GB OCZ Summit SSD - is it worth it?
60GB OCZ Technology, Summit, MLC-Flash, 2.5" SSD, SATA 3Gb/s, Read 220MB/s, Write 125MB/s - £189.75
Scan have these on todayonly and I want a SSD for my VAIO laptop - HD get's very hot and fans always comes on - subsequently, battery suffers. Also, I do fancy a quick boot time since Vista is pretty slow loading. read/write times look pretty good and reviews seem to be good also.
Only thing is, can I partition a SSD - I currently have both XP & Vista paritioned off on my laptop?
I know they are more expensive, but I am more interested in quiet/quick/cool :) without breaking the bank !!
Re: 60GB OCZ Summit SSD - is it worth it?
You can partition them, but with only 60GB will that be enough for one XP and one Vista partition. 30GB each, and a standard vista install is ~15GB, so not much left there.
Alot more expensive, but if you want one...

I'm with Will404. Seems pointless having 30GB partitions, is it absolutely necessary for you to use both OS's ?
Re: 60GB OCZ Summit SSD - is it worth it?
I would partition more like XP - 10gb, Vista the rest. I only use XP for a couple of small apps - nothing that needs lots of storage. I also use the home PC to store my stuff so the laptop doesn't tend to have that much on it apart from business apps.
I know it's expensive as far as storage goes, but it appears the best value for speed/price on SSD's that I can find. As mentioned, I am more interested in speed and laptop running longer/cooler.

sorry, XP 15gb partition :)

Best bet would probably be Windows 7 with the XP virtual machine you can download from Windows update IMO.
Least space wasted that way.
