    Which SSD?

Hi guys, I am new to the Hexus forums so please bare with me!

I am soon to be upgrading my system to a new one. I have had very little experience with SSD's up until now and the reviews between each brand are mixed to say the least.

I am looking to spend £150-200 max on one to sit the OS and a few core programs on. Any recommendations would be very much appreciated!

Wow, much love for the Intel drive here; I was under the imperssion the drives (from various OEMs) with Indilinx controllers were pretty good as well?

Depends on the SSD, but some are brilliant in one area (like burst speed), but fall over when it comes to the less known but very important stuff (like random read / writes).

When you look at all the factors that makes a SSD "good", the Intel is the best choice in most situations currently.

    Re: Which SSD?

    I see.

This thread may be applicable for me now. Im kind of chosing between an SSD (I guess an X25-M G2 )
and a 5850. I think the SSD may actually edge it because I'm probably CPU limited anyway.

The other choice is 3x Samsung F3's in Raid5.... Ahh, I want all 3 of the above!

Edit: Going to order the Intel SSD I think, looked on Scan its on preorder http://www.scan.co.uk/Product.aspx?W...source=froogle
Is this definitely Gen2? (How can I tell?)

Also will W7 automatically detect SSD and do the necessary optimizations, or is there a guide somewhere I need to follow in terms of what to turn off (page file?)
